3P Logistics (3PL) has appointed Phil Raikes to head up business development as it targets future growth. Raikes, who joins 3PL from the retail sector will work closely with founder and Managing Director Ian Walker and the existing development team. From its North West base 3P Logistics provides third party fulfilment and logistics services to both the retail and wholesale sectors. Launched in 2006 the business has enjoyed incremental year on year growth. Today it works with more than 50 recurring clients and operates from over 200,00 sq ft of UK warehousing alongside its International warehousing partner network. Raikes, who hails from a strong retail background says: “Upon digesting the initial brief I was immediately drawn to the role. The opportunity to spearhead a well-established business development department and capitalise on the level of demand is really appealing. The ecommerce space is incredibly exciting right now and an opportune time to develop both new and existing client relationships. Often on the receiving end of operations I now get to influence the physical aspects associated with supporting retail and I can`t wait to get going”. Having previously helped to bring new brands to market Raikes also has a head for marketing and brand awareness. Walker said “the decision to appoint Phil to head up our business development team is in keeping with our desire to take our continued growth journey to another level and beyond. We needed to add a dynamic commercially astute head to the 3PL management team to assist us with retention and growth of our existing clients base alongside the introduction of new business.” “We continue to build growing repute as one of the UK`s leading fulfilment and logistics providers and with a strong reputation comes increased demand for our services. Phil will help to further shape our offering and ensure we partner with the right clients. I am delighted to have Phil on board as a new chapter for our business begins”. The Wigan-based logistics firm was founded in 2006 by present day MD Ian Walker. 3PL manages the warehousing, fulfilment and delivery for various retailers and wholesalers in a multi-user environment. Outsourcing to 3PL enables product led businesses to focus on their core activities as opposed to the added distraction of physical operations. Working with both SME`s and large blue-chips 3PL operates from over 200,000 sq ft of shared user warehousing in the UK supported by access to a network of International warehouses to support global expansion for its clients. Its fast-moving operations house in excess of 16million items of stock at any one time across some 28,000 product lines ranging from health, beauty and wellbeing to consumer electronics and leisure.
