3PL has partnered with Trinity Fire & Security Systems, a leading UK provider of fire, life-safety and security solutions, to support its nationwide logistics operation.
Under a new three-year agreement, Trinity has chosen 3PL to manage its logistics operations, marking the first time the business has outsourced this function. The partnership supports inbound, storage and outbound fulfilment activity.
Part of Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG), Trinity delivers end-to-end fire and security services, including system design, installation, maintenance and long-term compliance support. Its customers include organisations with complex multi-site estates and demanding safety or regulatory compliance requirements, such as schools, hospitals and local authority buildings.
Supporting complex, nationwide operations
For organisations operating in safety-critical environments, logistics is essential in keeping projects on track. Trinity supports complex, multi-site work across the UK, where materials and systems need to arrive on time and in the right place.
Operating through a network of regional offices, Trinity supplies equipment and components to sites nationwide, supporting installation, maintenance and ongoing compliance. This includes both planned deliveries for scheduled work and responsive fulfilment where requirements change or time pressures apply.
In practice, this requires a logistics operation capable of supporting large-scale work, while maintaining clear stock visibility and consistent delivery performance across the UK.
Why Trinity chose 3PL
Trinity isn’t just a supplier of fire and security products, but a full-service, accredited and technically capable systems integrator. This creates unique challenges in delivering the right products to customer sites, shipments often need to be carefully coordinated with Trinity staff who are also on site. As a result, the business handles complex deliveries that must arrive at the right place, at the right time.
As Trinity’s customer needs have evolved, the business took a fresh look at how its operation was set up. With an existing warehouse lease coming to an end, it created a natural opportunity to move away from an in-house model and outsource their logistics for the first time.
The focus was on finding a partner that could support nationwide operations while maintaining consistent service levels. Reliability and the ability to adapt to changing requirements were key, alongside a shared approach to quality and long-term improvement.
As Chris Poole, National Stores and Purchasing Manager at Trinity, explains: “3PL has demonstrated a strong commitment to service quality and continuous improvement – qualities that are essential to supporting our growth and meeting the evolving needs of our customers. Their proactive approach, industry expertise and alignment with our strategic direction made them the right partner for the next phase of our logistics journey.”
Our logistics partnership in practice
Our partnership provides a full suite of logistics services to support Trinity’s nationwide operations. We’re delivering inbound, warehousing, outbound, returns and value-added services in a “just in time” environment from one of our central UK o warehousing facilities, creating a single logistics operation to support multiple projects nationwide.
A key part of the setup is system integration. We use 3PL Fusion, our proprietary fulfilment platform to enable a direct API connection with Trinity’s backend ERP. A dedicated integration with TVS Supply Chain Solutions ensures stock visibility and order flow are seamlessly aligned across all systems.
The delivery system has been designed to accommodate different site requirements. In addition to direct site deliveries, it includes Ship to Shop via DPD, offering greater flexibility in how and where materials are received.
Securing the future
As Trinity moves into this new phase, the focus is to deliver seamless operations across a wide range of receiving sites and customised requirements.
Chris Poole adds, “This partnership represents an exciting step forward for our network, strengthening our ability to deliver consistent, efficient, and scalable support across all Trinity operations. We look forward to working closely with 3PL as we transition into this new partnership and deliver enhanced value across the supply chain.”
For Trinity, the move to outsourced logistics is key to realising a dependable fulfilment and logistics service supporting a complex, nationwide operation. This solution provides practical support to critical projects that can ill afford disruption.
