Latics Academy to be known as the 3PL Wigan Athletic Academy as 3PL continues long-lasting association with the club

  • As principal partners of the Wigan Athletic Academy, Latics’ renowned youth development operation will now be renamed the 3PL Wigan Athletic Academy, with 3PL branding prominent on Academy training wear
  • Wigan Athletic Chief Executive Malachy Brannigan said: “We are delighted that Ian has returned as a Club partner to continue 3PL’s long association with Wigan Athletic, supporting the next generation of players at the 3PL Wigan Athletic Academy during the next few years.”

Latics renowned youth development operation will now be known as the 3PL Wigan Athletic Academy, with the multi-award-winning fulfilment and logistics company’s branding set to appear on all Academy training wear. Furthermore, 3PL will continue their long-standing brand association with the Club at both the DW Stadium and the home of the 3PL Wigan Athletic Academy at Stadium Way.

Lifelong Latics supporter Ian Walker, 3PL’s Founder & Managing Director, has enjoyed a long-term relationship as a commercial partner of the Club. This agreement sees 3PL commit to a multi-year partnership for the first time since Phoenix 2021 Limited became the custodians of Wigan Athletic in March 2021.

Wigan Athletic Chief Executive Malachy Brannigan said: “We are delighted that Ian has returned as a Club partner to continue 3PL’s long association with Wigan Athletic, supporting the next generation of players at the 3PL Wigan Athletic Academy during the next few years.”

“Last season alone, there were over 100 first team appearances for Academy graduates, which highlights the pathway and opportunity we have here at Wigan Athletic.

“As an ownership group, we are very aware of how important the Academy is to our supporters, with nearly 70% of #BELIEVE FansFund Founders directing their monthly contributions to the continued growth of the Academy.

“Ian’s values are aligned to those of Phoenix 2021 Limited, and I am delighted that he has seen the commitment of the ownership group to rebuilding the Club and opted to partner with us once again.”
